What Actually Are Custom Cabinets?

A custom cabinet simply refers to a product that is made outside of a large production factory. Cabinets made in these factories are generally limited in their size and color oprions. When you bring the production in-house, you now control every single element of the product from the wood species it's made from, to the exact measurements and specific hardware. You also gain much more control over the construction methods and finishing capabilities of your product.

Benefits of Custom Cabinets

When you control every aspect of building a product in-house, you gain the ability to customize it to your exact specifications. When you order custom cabinets, you can expect to see some unique features that RTA cabinets don't offer.

  • Cabinet boxes sized to any width, height, and depth
  • Hundreds of different options for cabinet door profiles
  • Five piece solid wood doors
  • Premium wood species such as white oak or walnut
  • Any paint color or stain of your choice
  • Unique range hoods
  • Large glass display cabinets
  • Panel ready appliances
  • Hidden storage compartments
  • Premium joinery such as dovetail drawer boxes

Custom Cabinet Pricing

Custom cabinets generally range from $600 per linear foot to $1,000+ per linear foot. Remember that with a 10' run of cabinets, your base cabinets are 10 LF and your upper cabinets are an additional 10 LF. Tall cabinets and built-ins can have a much higher cost per linear foot than standard base and upper cabinets.
